8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip
I am pleased to announce that your child has the opportunity to take a fun and educational trip to Washington, D.C. with their classmates from June 4-6, 2019. This is an exciting once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for your child to discover American history firsthand while fully grasping what we are learning in the classroom interactively.
HIGHLIGHTS: Traveling with classmates and lifelong memories are only part of the fun awaiting us on this journey. During this adventure, we will explore major historical landmarks, reflect on achievements of great Americans at Native American Museum, African American Museum, Smithsonian Museums (various), Holocaust Museum, Monuments on the Mall Air and Space Museum and D.C. National Zoo. More details to come and will be available on the district website.
The trip cost will be $495 and includes round trip transportation, two night hotel accommodations with security, evening activities and all meals for three days (except breakfast the day of departure). We will need a commitment to trip participation ASAP as space may not be available. Washington D.C. is very busy at this time and reservations must be finalized due to limited availability. A $120 deposit is due by Friday, January 18, 2019 to reserve your spot on the trip. You can pay with cash or check made out to SIS and bring it to Mr. Ferro or Mr. Stipanov. You can pay the full amount ahead of time or follow the payment schedule of:
January 18th- $120 deposit – non-refundable
February 13th- $125
March 11th- $125
April 10th - $125
We are in the process of setting up some more fundraisers for the 8th grade. If they participate they will earn a percentage of money that will contribute to their own trip and lower the cost.
There will be a full informational meeting for parents Wednesday, March 6th at 6:30 in the SIS library to discuss itinerary and code of conduct in preparation for the trip. We hope your child will join us on this incredible adventure! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 631-591-4704.
