Our Library Media Center is an integral part of our elementary school. Students visit the library weekly to select and borrow library materials. The curriculum consists of library skills, literature appreciation and information literacy skills.
Circulation Policies: Students in Grades K-1 may have one book checked out at a time. Students in Grades 2 - 4 may have two items checked out at a time. Students may borrow one additional item for classroom research.
Loan Period: Two weeks for books and magazines. Students may not borrow materials if they have overdue items. Students in Grades 2 - 4 may renew library materials.
Circulation Policies: It is the responsibility of the student and the parent/guardian to make sure library materials are returned.
Overdue Materials: There are no fines charged for overdue items, but prompt return is expected. Library materials can be returned anytime the library is open.
Overdue Procedures: We will speak with student and teacher concerning overdue materials. We will print overdue notices for the classroom teacher to distribute. Finally the LLC staff will contact parents/guardians by phone.
Book Care: Never write in library books. Keep library books away from all food and drinks. Handle books with clean hands. Use a bookmark to keep your place. Never bend the pages of a library book. Keep library books away from small children and pets. Place library books in a safe place. Carry library books in a backpack or plastic bag. Return all library materials on time.
Damaged/Lost Book Policy: When library materials are lost or damaged, one of the following solutions can resolve the matter:
1. Paying the cost to replace the item (money will be returned if the item is returned).
2. Replacing the item with a suitable replacement.
Please contact the LCC at 591-4876 if you have questions or concerns about library policies and procedures. Thank you supporting our library media program.
