Substitute Teaching

  • SUBSTITUTE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE 2019 - 2020 SCHOOL YEAR

    APPROVED

    Substitute Teacher* (TRS Eligible):  Valid NYS Teacher Certificate          

    • Days 1 – 50 worked in the 2019-2020 school year $160 per day                           
    • Days 51 and beyond worked in the 2019-2020 school year $175 per day                           
    • Retired Southampton certified Teacher (from 1st day) $175 per day 

    Substitute Teaching Assistant*(TRS Eligible):  Valid NYS TA Certificate, MA or BA

    • Days 1 – 50 worked in the 2019-2020 school year  $125 per day
    • Days 51 and beyond worked in the 2019-2020 school year $140 per day
    • Retired Southampton uncertified staff  $140 per day

    Substitute Teacher Aides*(ERS Eligible):  High School Diploma $115 per day

    *Qualified candidates may elect to work in each of the three categories at the daily compensation rate of the position covered (Teacher, T.A., Teacher Aide) 

    Substitute School Nurse:  

    Uncertified (RN) $175 per day
    Certified (NYS RN Certification)$190 per day 

     Permanent Teacher Substitute: (October 1 – May 31)  $175 per day

    Leave Replacement:

    Short-Term Replacement: 5 to 29 continuous work days @ higher per diem rate from start
    Long-Term Replacement: 30 or more continuous work days to be placed on contract @ maximum Scale 4/Step 3 – medical/dental benefits payable for service of one semester or five months
