    Superintendent Search

    The Southampton UFSD Board of Education has selected Eastern Suffolk BOCES to coordinate the search for a Superintendent of Schools.  The Southampton Board has planned a series of stakeholder engagement activities to assist in its decision-making.

    The selection of a Superintendent of Schools is one of the most important decisions that a Board of Education makes.  The Board would like your input in making the best decision possible on behalf of the school district and the children you serve.

    At the request of the Southampton Board of Education, David Wicks, ESBOCES District Superintendent will be meeting with you in person on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at    6:00 p.m. or Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., to give you an opportunity to express the skills and characteristics you believe the new Superintendent of Schools should possess, and the short-term and long-term issues that the new Superintendent of Schools will need to address.  This meeting will provide valuable information for the Board to use in the process of selecting a new leader for the school district.

    It is suggested that you prepare for the meeting by reflecting upon the questions found on the attached forms, Profile of the New Superintendent of Schools and Priorities of the School District.  Also attached for your reference is a copy of the application and brochure describing the position.

    La Junta Educativa de Southampton UFSD ha seleccionado a Eastern Suffolk BOCES para coordinar la búsqueda de un Superintendente de Escuelas. La Junta de Southampton ha planificado una serie de actividades de participación de las partes interesadas para ayudar en su toma de decisiones.

    La selección de un Superintendente de Escuelas es una de las decisiones más importantes que toma una Junta de Educación. La Junta quisiera recibir su opinión para tomar la mejor decisión posible en nombre del distrito escolar y de los niños a los que presta servicios.

    As many of you know, the Southampton Board is conducting a search to hire a new superintendent. The Board is seeking input from all members of the Southampton School District community. Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SouthamptonSuptSearch2023 to complete an online survey no later than Friday, December 15. Your response will be appreciated by the Board of Education as we select the new superintendent.

    If you are unable to access the survey online, paper copies of the survey are available at the District Office.

    The Board of Education looks forward to receiving your input for this very important undertaking.

    The community survey will be distributed next week and will be accessible through the district website and ParentSquare.  For the greater community, we anticipate posting a notice in the Southampton Press, with instructions to access the link on the district website. 

    A schedule for various community meetings is anticipated to be held after Thanksgiving break through mid-January.   Please check back for dates!

    With the announcement of Dr. Nicholas Dyno’s retirement at the end of this school year, the Board of Education has undertaken one of its most important tasks, the selection of a new Superintendent of Schools.  The Board has enlisted the expertise of Mr. David Wicks, District Superintendent of East Suffolk BOCES, to guide us in this significant endeavor.  We recognize the opportunity it presents for the continued growth and prosperity of our district.  In the coming weeks, the Board of Education will rely on your active participation as we seek your input through an online survey and community meetings.  Mr. Wicks will lead and facilitate these gatherings, providing a platform for all your voices to be heard.
