Athletes earn accolades
Southampton High School Mariners Chloe Bierfriend and Mason Stevens were recently honored by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance as winners of the Suffolk Zone Student Leadership Award. The seniors were selected based on their excellence in physical education, leadership ability and service to the community.

Southampton athletes attend Stadium Classic hockey game
Through an invitation by the New York Special Olympics Committee, Southampton High School Special Olympics athletes had the opportunity to attend the Stadium Classic hockey game on Feb. 18. The student-athletes enjoyed watching the New York Rangers take on the New York Islanders at MetLife Stadium.

Southampton Italian program gets a boost
Southampton High School Italian students are receiving extra study materials and funds for educational trips through a grant from the Italian American Committee on Education. The high school is the only school on the East End of Long Island offering Italian to receive the funds.

Southampton United sports team takes on Top Golf
For the first time, the Southampton United Golf team had the opportunity to participate in a new golf program at Top Golf in Holbrook. As part of the program, sponsored by Special Olympics Long Island and Top Golf, the student-athletes practiced for eight weeks at the Top Golf facility to ready themselves for a final competition with teams from across Suffolk County.

Animal research presentation
Southampton Elementary School third-grade students recently honed their research and presentation skills. After completing a unit of study on research, they selected an animal to explore and created impressive reports that they presented to district administrators, family, friends, and teachers.
