Two Mariners varsity basketball players recently hit important milestones in their careers. Junior Naevon Williams scored his 1,000th point during a game against Wyandanch on Feb. 27 and senior Dominick White has been named a Suffolk
Southampton High School Mariners Chloe Bierfriend and Mason Stevens were recently honored by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance as winners of the Suffolk Zone Student Leadership Award. The seniors were selected based on their excellence in physical education, leadership ability and service to the community.
Through an invitation by the New York Special Olympics Committee, Southampton High School Special Olympics athletes had the opportunity to attend the Stadium Classic hockey game on Feb. 18. The student-athletes enjoyed watching the New York Rangers take on the New York Islanders at MetLife Stadium.
Southampton High School Italian students are receiving extra study materials and funds for educational trips through a grant from the Italian American Committee on Education. The high school is the only school on the East End of Long Island offering Italian to receive the funds.

For the first time, the Southampton United Golf team had the opportunity to participate in a new golf program at Top Golf in Holbrook. As part of the program, sponsored by Special Olympics Long Island and Top Golf, the student-athletes practiced for eight weeks at the Top Golf facility to ready themselves for a final competition with teams from across Suffolk County.
Three Southampton High School varsity wrestlers are set to compete in Division II of the New York State tournament at the Albany Times Union Center on Feb. 23 and 24. To earn their spots, Cole Fox (190 pounds),
Southampton High School Class of 2023 graduate Ulises Munguia has earned the 2023 Construction Career Charitable Fund Award. The Fund, founded by three local construction business owners and funded through generous donations, is granted to students with diverse backgrounds as they pursue careers in the various trades within the construction industry.
