Southampton school board to discuss in-district trade program at Dec. 4 meeting
Following feedback from families and conversations with local business owners, the Southampton School District has investigated the feasibility of offering hands-on technical training at Southampton High School for September 2019. With that, the Board of Education will welcome representatives from Eastern Suffolk BOCES at its Dec. 4 meeting to present information on its building trade program.
During the meeting, Leah Arnold, director of Eastern Long Island Academy of Applied Technology, and Robert Brunt, program administrator, will discuss opportunities for partnering with the Southampton School District to offer a two-year in-district trade program, as well as the possibility of individual courses for ninth- and 10th-graders.
Members of the community are invited to attend the presentation and offer feedback to the Board and administration regarding the program. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Southampton Intermediate School music room, 70 Leland Lane, Southampton.
