In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr., students at Southampton Elementary School learned more about Dr. King and took part in discussions related to kindness.
Second graders in Yesica Castro-Martinez’s class, for example, listened to a read-aloud of the Spanish version of “Celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with Mrs. Park’s Class” by Alma Flor Ada. Then they brainstormed ways they could continue carrying out and fulfilling Dr. King’s dream and wrote about their own dreams for the world, which included world peace, respect and love.
Third graders in Wendy Etheridge’s class also celebrated Dr. King by reading more about his life and writing their own dreams for the world.
