Celebrating Black history
Celebrating Black history
Over the past month, Southampton Elementary School students have been celebrating Black History Month with several inspiring classroom projects, many of which are currently adorning the halls of Southampton Village Hall.
The exhibit features projects by third graders, who collaboratively studied influential Black Americans before designing poster boards about what they had learned. Fourth grade students researched famous Black American quotes and included them in presentations. All elementary students studied famous Black painters, including Jacob Lawrence and Jean-Michel Basquiat, and created their own artwork inspired by them.
