The Science of Music 

First grade students at Southampton Elementary School spent the past month studying the science of music as part of a study unit on sound. Through interdisciplinary lessons, they learned how sound is made through vibrations and how it is used to communicate. The first graders culminated the unit by designing their own musical instruments using household items such as tissue boxes and string.
