Generations share the love of Italian culture
Members of the Italian Club at Southampton High School recently celebrated the last Italian for All community class of the year. For the celebration, community members and students worked together to use a pasta machine and rolling pins to make the regional dessert bocconcini.
Italian for All classes were offered to community members throughout the school year as an opportunity to learn the Italian language through model dialogues, karaoke, and talks about various aspects of Italian culture from Italian Club members and their adviser, Maria Abbadessa.
Each class featured a unique theme and dish that correlated to what the club members had been learning in school. The wide range of classic Italian fare was donated by local businesses.
The idea for the series came after several community members and teachers reached out to Abbadessa with an interest in learning Italian.
It is anticipated that classes will resume next school year.
