LEADERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION:
• Supervises the effective and efficient implementation of educational and instructional programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and the provisions of the district's collective bargaining agreements.
• Supervises and supports administrators
• Responsible for the development of the annual curriculum and instructional goals and action planning for teaching and learning, including the development of the curriculum review and writing initiative.
• Assists in the creation of all instructionally related reports, records, and other paperwork as required by the Board of Education, the State Department of Education, and the Federal Government and/or paperwork that may be appropriate to the district's administration.
• Keeps the Superintendent informed and works cooperatively with all other administrators in school and district-related matters.
• Grant development and program support for UPK & ESSA
• Ensures compliance with NYS and Federal Regulations, including Part 100, 200 and 154
• Leads professional meetings.
• Schedules and facilitates district-wide committee meetings in the areas of instruction, data, NY State testing, professional development, materials selection and other related issues.
• Serves as a member of the District Policy Committee
• Establishes and maintains efficient administrative procedures to support the teaching and learning functions of the district.
• Attends. participates in and presents at board of education meetings.
• Serves as the District Testing Coordinator
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION:
• Responsible for the review, rewrite, and implementation of curriculum aligned with state
frameworks, student and teacher performance objectives, curriculum standards, and
proficiencies in all subject areas.
• Directs the development, evaluation, and revision of curriculum and instruction and assumes
responsibility for the implementation of approved programs. Coordinates and articulates
curriculum among and between the grades/courses.
• Responsible for the formulation, planning, and implementation of the professional development
program for professional staff (teachers and administrators).
• Work with administrators/department chairs in the selection and evaluation of instructional
materials including textbooks, digital resources, library/media acquisitions, and other
instructional materials.
• Responsible for assessing results of programs and addressing areas in need of improvement.
• Seeks and applies for appropriate competitive grants and is responsible for the formulation,
planning, and implementation of Federal grants.
• Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with building personnel and teacher leaders.
• Provides leadership and supervision to all Department Chairs and Teacher Leaders in the area of
curriculum.
• Facilitates monthly curriculum/PD meetings with building principals/instructional directors.
• Facilitates regularly scheduled meetings to align elementary and secondary curriculum.
• Plans and coordinates curriculum development schedules and closely supports the areas during
their writing phase.
• Serves as liaison between the instructional technology department and department chairs to
connect technology with curriculum needs.
• Disseminates curriculum information from NYS Education Department and the latest
• educational research.
• Provides oversight and coordinates reporting for all NY State standardized testing programs. as
liaison with the Tri-States Consortium team to facilitate visits, assessments, and reviews.
• Attends curriculum related meetings sponsored by BOCES and other agencies.
INSTRUCTIONAL STUDENT SERVICES:
• Works with Principals and Instructional Administrators to develop plans for assessing and
monitoring the progress of all students. Coordinates and articulates assessment among and
between grades.
• Oversees the planning and delivery of all state. federally. and district funded compensatory
education program services.
PERSONNEL:
• Oversees the hiring, onboarding, and record keeping of all staff through supervision of human
resources staff.
• Supervises and manages administrators in compliance with local, state, and federal law and the
policies and procedures of the school district.
• Observes and evaluates instructional administrators annually in accordance with law and district
established procedures.
• Facilitates the implementation of staff observations, evaluations, and the Annual
• Professional Performance Review (APPR) Plan in accordance with law, district policies and
employee contracts.
• Facilitates the APPR committee and the development, dissemination, and coordination of the
district's APPR Plan and related staff activities
• Responsible for developing and directing the orientation, induction, and onboarding program for
new staff including assigning mentors.
• Oversee the annual staff training mandates, updates related employee records, and ensures
compliance with laws, district polices, and established procedures.
• Facilitates district actions related to separation of staff from district.
• Promotes effective communication and cooperation among administrators.
BUDGET AND FINANCES:
• Assists in the development of related budgets including staffing needs, instructional materials
and resources. and provisions for the activities of the district in alignment with district goals.
• Coordinates the preparation of department and program budget requests and line transfers
through the implementation of district-established procedures.
• Oversees the development, monitoring, and maintenance of federal and competitive grant
budgets.
SCHOOL-COMMUNITY RELATIONS:
• Promotes and assists in the coordination of effective communication related to the instructional
programs in the District.
• Promotes effective communication among all members of the school community.
• Develops and maintains good relations with the school community and all related stakeholders.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues within the district and from other school districts.
• Serves on district committees, participates in district activities, and represents the district as
warranted. or as directed by the Superintendent.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
• Develops, coordinates, schedules, and evaluates curriculum related to professional development
in consultation with the administrative team.
• Works closely with the Teacher Center Directors, District Administrative Team, and District
Curriculum Design Teams to develop and offer staff development programs that are responsive
to staff needs and are aligned to district goals and New York State Standards.
• Determines the professional development needs of the district.
• Collaborates with instructional administrators and teacher leaders to develop appropriate
professional growth activities that are in keeping with the SED mandated Professional
Development Plan.
• Maintains all records for district staff development.
• Develops the curriculum cycle review calendar and curriculum writing schedule for each year.
• Develops schedules for planning meetings for curriculum and teacher leadership meetings of
various groups and design sessions for curriculum areas.
• Develop schedules and prepares all required paperwork for consultant visits and acts as district
liaison with curriculum consultants.
• Plans, schedules and facilitates monthly new staff meetings.
• Collaborates with the administrative team for the preparation and submission of the district's
staff development plan.
