Biologist – Part Time 5 hours per week in accordance with STA schedule.

Must be listed with Suffolk County Civil Service as a Biologist.

Must be a teacher at Southampton High School in order to serve as the scientific leader for the SHS Wet Lab. 

This position will provide scientific expertise to the Laboratory Aide/Aquarist.  This position will advise the Laboratory Aide/Aquarist on best practices in running and maintaining the SHS Wet Lab.  The Biologist shall report issues and concerns to building administration.

This is a forty (40) week position with a schedule of work that follows the District Calendar for STA faculty – September 02, 2025 – June 26, 2026. 

In the event that the Biologist has to fill in for the Laboratory Aide/Aquarist, outside of the STA Teacher work day provisions, the rate of compensation shall be $45.00 per hour.  If the Biologist has to respond to an emergency in the Wet Lab and/or provide coverage for the Laboratory Aide after regular hours, weekends, or holidays, the rate of compensation shall be as follows, in accordance with Civil Service regulations, relevant laws, and established practices:  Time and a half after 3:30PM Monday(s) through Friday(s) and/or anytime on Saturday(s); and double time on Sunday(s) and Holidays.
