Camera Crew Manager – Athletic Events
Position Summary
The Camera Crew Manager oversees all camera operations during athletic events, ensuring high-quality live video, replays, and crowd engagement footage. This role manages the setup, direction, and coordination of multiple camera operators and works closely with the Press Box Manager to provide smooth, professional video integration for the Daktronics scoreboard, and live streams. Works in tandem and as back backup for the Press Box Daktronics Manger
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Camera Team Management
- Recruit, train, and supervise camera operators for athletic events.
- Assign camera positions (sideline, end zone, press box, roaming) based on game coverage needs.
- Ensure all operators understand shot assignments, communication protocols, and event timing.
2. Pre-Game Setup & Testing
- Oversee the setup of all cameras, tripods, mounts, and wireless connections.
- Conduct pre-game system checks to confirm video quality, angles, and scoreboard connectivity.
- Coordinate with Press Box Manager to test scoreboard video feed, replay system, and live streaming integration.
3. Live Game Operations
- Direct camera operators during games to capture action shots, replays, and crowd reactions.
- Communicate through headsets to ensure operators capture the right angles at the right time.
- Maintain consistency in quality and transitions between multiple cameras.
- Monitor video feeds in real time and make adjustments to framing, focus, and coverage.
4. Replay & Highlight Support
- Capture key plays for instant replay playback on the Daktronics scoreboard.
- Flag and archive highlight clips for promotional videos, social media, or end-of-season recaps.
- Ensure sponsor-related video content is recorded and integrated where needed.
5. Post-Event Duties
- Oversee the breakdown and secure storage of all camera equipment.
- Back up and organize video files for future editing and archival.
- Provide performance feedback to camera crew and identify training needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong understanding of sports video production and live event coverage.
- Ability to lead a team under pressure and communicate quickly and clearly.
- Familiarity with camera equipment, video switchers, and replay systems.
- Knowledge of Daktronics video integration preferred.
- Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to maintain professional standards during live events.
