SEL Day and Parent Coffee Club on December 18
Dear Parents & Guardians,
On Wednesday, December 18, Southampton Intermediate School will hold our annual Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Day, a full day devoted entirely to supporting students’ social and emotional well-being. Academic classes will be paused for the day so students can participate in meaningful, community-building experiences.
On SEL Day, students will rotate through teacher-led SEL activities designed to be fun, interactive, and engaging. These sessions help students build connections, strengthen communication and collaboration skills, and enjoy positive experiences with their peers.
We are also excited to welcome this year’s guest speaker, Jordan Toma, a motivational speaker who inspires students by sharing his personal story of perseverance, learning differences, and the message that every kid matters. Jordan’s journey from struggling student to highly successful entrepreneur and speaker has motivated students across the country, reminding them that their challenges can become their strengths.
During lunch, students will enjoy a special meal prepared by our very own security guard, Chef Omar, which is always a student favorite. Recess periods will include team-building activities to encourage kindness, cooperation, and connection.
SEL Day offers our students and staff an opportunity to:
- Build and strengthen relationships
- Focus on personal growth and reflection
- Enjoy uplifting experiences that support emotional well-being
- Laugh, learn, and have fun together in a supportive environment
SEL Days are an important part of our district’s commitment to supporting the whole child. These experiences are designed to help students develop resilience, empathy, positive relationships, and the social-emotional skills they need to thrive, both in and out of the classroom.
