Job Description
Responsibilities include leading the Shinnecock curriculum team to design, and create, a Shinnecock curriculum to be infused Pre-K-12. Also, the liaison will build an understanding of culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum with the administration and faculty. This position is an annual appointment. To accommodate the responsibilities below, The liaison will be relieved of 1 teaching period and a duty period for the full year
Required to:
• provide agendas and minutes and attendance from regularly scheduled curriculum meetings
• attend relevant building leadership meetings
• attend relevant district meetings upon request
Responsible for:

Facilitating and leading on-site curriculum writing sessions with the Shinnecock Curriculum Team
-
Work to integrate Shinnecock Curriculum lessons into the standing ELA and Social Studies Curriculum (Prek-12)
-
Updating, organizing, and editing the curriculum in Google Docs after the writing sessions have taken place to ensure all curriculum documents are up-to-date and accurate

Ensuring that curriculum is appropriately paced, aligned and embedded with state standards

Providing agendas and collecting attendance for regularly scheduled meetings
-
Attending building leadership meetings as scheduled by building principals
-
Disseminating and discussing curriculum information
-
and resources through building, department, grade level and/or individual meetings with teachers (as requested)

Collaborate with the Shinnecock Nation in identifying and acquiring resources and learning opportunities (i.e. texts, guest speakers, field trips, artifacts, music and the arts)

Collaborate with building principals regarding budgeting, acquisition of resources, scheduling, and learning experiences (i.e. texts, guest speakers, field trips)

Collaborating with teachers and teacher leaders, department chairs, and administrators on ideas, events and resources (i.e.guest speakers, field trips)

Planning, coordinating, and facilitating ongoing professional development opportunities in conjunction with the administration

Supporting the understanding of a culturally responsive and inclusive curriculum
-
Collaborating with administration to support a culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning by using the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework

Other related duties as required

Tenured Teacher

Experience with curriculum design and implementation

Deep understanding of Shinnecock history, culture, traditions and contributions
