Job Description
The Instructional Coach (IC) is responsible for providing instructional coaching and support to teachers at the 5-8 grade levels with a specific focus on literacy. The role of the instructional coach is to provide support and mentoring to teachers in developing a rich knowledge and understanding of teaching, learning, and assessing all learners with the goal of improved student achievement. The IC will work 1:1 and with groups of teachers, and staff in providing guidance, training, model lessons, and the use of instructional resources. The IC will focus on practical strategies for engaging students and improving learning and must demonstrate expertise in lesson design, planning, implementation, assessment, and utilization of instructional technology platforms. The IC will be on full release from teaching and duty periods.
The IC will work closely with district and building-level administration to reach District and building goals. The IC should have an expansive understanding of MTSS, language acquisition and best practices in instruction specifically related to meeting the needs of multilingual learners. The IC should have a collection of effective strategies to draw upon, and know how to manage a classroom of diverse learners so that the learning needs of individual students are addressed. The IC should believe that students learn in engaging environments and they know how to create and sustain this type of classroom.
Data Stipend Responsibilities:

facilitating the collection of student data

analyze student data and work closely with teachers to interpret data and adjust instruction accordingly

provide data and assist in the development of student goals through SST and data meetings
-
facilitating reading and math meetings for the identification and services of Tier 2 and Tier 3 students
-
Monitor available information regularly to ensure current data
-
collaborating with the administrators to build the testing calendar
Responsible for:
-
Attend building leadership meetings as scheduled by administration
-
Attend team meetings and district meetings upon request
-
Attend professional development opportunities and turnkey to staff as needed
-
Support teachers in establishing a productive and independent learning community within their classrooms
-
Support with teachers to develop effective management systems
-
Conduct demonstration lessons in classrooms to illustrate various methods of instruction
-
Supporting teachers in planning, including assisting in the overview of upcoming units, teaching points, resources, assessments, and student expectations
-
Working with teachers to integrate appropriate digital and print resources that support district curriculum and effective instructional practices to increase student learning
-
Support teachers in developing shared expectations for student work at each grade level by conducting data/assessment review meetings
-
Provide demonstrations as needed on assessment administration and scoring
-
Support teachers in how to use data to inform instruction (whole group, small group, and conferring)

Collaborate with other teacher leaders to support staff
-
Lead professional development sessions, grade level meetings and department meetings on topics identified and based on student needs as needed
-
Meet regularly with administration to discuss instructional and building needs
-
Participate in articulation meetings between the elementary and intermediate schools to build consistency, continuity, and alignment between them
-
Collaborate with administration to support a culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning by using the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework

Collect, organize, and disseminate assessment data to grade-level leaders, classroom teachers and department chairs
-
Attend all SST meetings to provide data and assist with the development of student goals.

Support teachers with student interventions and SST outcomes
-
Collaborate with guidance and administration regarding student placement as needed
-
Facilitating relevant training and support teachers in progress monitoring practices and programs (i.e , iReady, Magnetic Literacy, Ready Math )
-
Attending relevant technology and systems training (i.e. iReady, Branching Minds)
