Job Description

Southampton Union Free School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Permanent Substitute Teacher.

Southampton High School is seeking Permanent Substitute Teachers to provide instructional support and classroom coverage throughout the school year. Permanent Substitute Teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity of instruction by providing consistent classroom supervision, implementing lesson plans, and supporting a positive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Position Details

Appointment Type: Per Diem 
Assignment Period: September 8, 2026 – June 24, 2027
Location: Southampton High School
Positions Available: Three (3)

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
• Follow school procedures for attendance, classroom management, and student supervision.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Experience working with secondary students preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of grade levels and subject areas.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.
