REMINDER - Community Survey on Social Emotional Learning/Encuesta Comunitaria Sobre Aprendizaje Sociomocional

Good Afternoon Parents, Guardians, and Faculty Members, 

The Southampton Union Free School District is embarking on an important initiative to enhance the well-being and academic success of all our students. We are seeking to develop a clear vision statement and set of instructional practices for Social Emotional Learning (SEL) across our schools.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Essentially, SEL is about helping students develop the foundational life skills necessary to thrive in school and beyond.

Your perspective is extremely valuable and needed as we develop these critical plans. We believe that a successful SEL framework must be reflective of the values and needs of our entire community—our students, parents, and dedicated faculty.
