Parent Alert: Phishing Scam Targeting Students
Posted Date: 12/03/25 (02:45 PM)
Hello Students and Families,
We want to make families aware of an active phishing scam targeting students on Long Island with fake job opportunities.
What’s happening?
- Students are receiving messages advertising “easy” or “high-paying” jobs.
- The scam uses a Google Form to collect student information.
- After submitting the form, students receive text messages requesting financial details such as bank information, routing numbers, or payment app login credentials.
What to do
- Do NOT allow your child to share personal or financial information online or via text with unknown individuals or organizations.
- Verify all job opportunities through trusted school staff or official company websites.
- Remind students that legitimate employers will NEVER ask for banking passwords or personal financial access via text message.
- If your student has already submitted information, contact your bank and report the scam immediately.
How to stay safe
- Encourage students to avoid clicking unfamiliar links.
- Look for signs of fraud such as spelling errors, urgent language, or unusual requests.
- Report suspicious messages to the school and, if applicable, to your mobile carrier.
Thank you,
