HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Dear Southampton Families. Students, Staff, and Esteemed Board Members.

As we head into the holiday break, I wanted to take a moment to once again reflect on the school year thus far. During this time of joy and community, let us recognize all the moments we have shared together that make the Southampton Union Free School District so special.

This year has been marked by excellent achievements in many areas, including academics, athletics, and service. In addition to successes throughout our hallways. many of our senior students have begun receiving acceptance letters from colleges, including Ivy League colleges such as Harvard University, Columbia University and Cornell University. Several student-athletes have committed to playing their chosen sport in college, while others are exploring opportunities for career pathways that meet their interests. No matter the path our seniors plan to take, we should all be extremely proud of their accomplishments, which reflect their dedication, talent, and the support of our educators and families.

Thus far, it has been a very successful first half of the school year, with high levels of collaboration and community building throughout the district. In addition to beautiful winter concerts and performances, spotlighting our talented student-musicians, and a remarkable athletic season, we have also seen great strides in academics. Year over year, students at every school have demonstrated educational gains, as reflected in state assessment results that significantly outpace statewide proficiency rates.

I am also deeply appreciative of the collaborative partnership with our Board of Education as we work together to advance positive outcomes across a wide range of achievement measures in support of all students.

As we enter the holiday season, I wish our students and families the gifts of peace, love, and family. On behalf of the esteemed Board of Education, I wish you the merriest of seasons and the joy that comes from spending quality time with loved ones.
